Lizard’s
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
Clinic is recognised as one of
Australia’s leading providers of
effective evidence based intervention for young children with autism
and related disorders.
ABA
is a scientifically validated method which has been used for over
forty years to establish lasting improvements in all areas of a
child’s development, including communication, cognition, social
interaction and adaptive skills.
ABA
uses positive reinforcement and many other specialised techniques to
establish new skills, to reinforce adaptive and reduce maladaptive behaviours. The
ABA
curriculum is highly individualised and covers all areas of a
child’s development including play, communication, motor, social and
daily living skills. The preschool programs are delivered
in the child’s home, however
a Program Supervisor sets, oversees and monitors progress, and the
child attends Lizard Children’s Centre once a week for a session
with a Senior Behaviour Therapist. Once a month the whole team,
including parents attend a clinic meeting to review and update the
child’s program.
ABA Programs at Lizard address all areas of a child's
development:
