Position Description | The Company: Lizard Centre is Australia's leading provider of evidence-based intervention and ABA/PBS therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental delays. The Role: We are looking for two Behaviour Support Specialists to join our growing team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Senior Centre Clinician, this role will develop and supervise skill building programs for children over 3 years old with ASD and related developmental delays. As the Behaviour Support Specialist, you will: Conduct all clinical aspects of a child’s program throughout their journey with Lizard. This includes conducting initial consultation & assessments, writing progress reports, and training families in behaviour management. Design and implement individualised Behaviour Intervention Plans including training of Therapists and Parents in the use of BIP’s Develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships with clients in a manner that promotes the clients’ overall relationship and satisfaction with the Centre Coach, mentor and guide therapists both in-centre and in the child’s home or school with regular supervision Maintain high levels of acquisition in the program by monitoring, and problem-solving. This includes conducting a combination of face-to-face and telehealth sessions Liaise with children’s school/day-care/other allied health professionals and parents to ensure consistency across the child’s support network Design and deliver training programs for parents, clinical staff & external stakeholders as required Identify high risk behaviours and provide practical advice on complaints and Incidents This role is based in our Sydney centre/hub with travel to clients’ homes and the community (KMs will be reimbursed) About you To be a successful applicant you will possess the following: Bachelor’s Degree in special education, Psychology or related field; or be working towards or hold their BCBA/BCaBA registration 2 years+ demonstrated experience in application of ABA principles and practices, delivering and supervising ABA programs for children Hands on experience in identifying performance gaps, training and mentoring Ability to conduct behaviour analytic assessments, including the VB MAPP and ABLLS Ability to conduct functional assessments and design function-based behaviour support plans Ability to work within a team environment and adhere to professional conduct standards Passion for working with children and families Desirable Criteria: Registration with the NDIS as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner Experience training other staff and families in Positive Behaviour Support Plans Qualified BCBA Flexibility in working within a centre; as well as travelling to homes and delivering services via telehealth Why work with us: Rewarding experience of changing the lives of children and their families.
